Sunday, June 9, 2024 is the date for Firemen's Memorial Sunday, at 10:00 a.m. This year we are celebrating the 60th anniversary of the creation and dedication of the monument, which is now located in front of North Providence Fire headquarters at 1835 Mineral Spring Avenue.
The agenda will include hanging of wreaths for all five original volunteer fire companies and for the career department; brief speeches by the mayor and former district chiefs; reading of the names of departed members who were lost in the last year; lowering of the flag with bugle accompaniment.
Antique fire trucks will also be on hand, as well as the Providence Canteen with one of its trucks to serve refreshments. Hope to see you there!

July 5, 2023The Annual 4th of July collation will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at 6:00 pm at Firefighter's Memorial Hall (the old Centredale station), 1995 Smith St, North ProvidenceClam cakes and chowder will be served, along with soda and beer.  

We will be holding our annual St. Patrick's Day dinner on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 5:00pm at Firefighters Memorial Hall, basement of 1995 Smith St, North Providence. This is an all-you-can-eat meal of corned beef, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, pickled beets, Irish soda bread, rye bread, zeppoles, coffee, Centredale's own Yacht Club soda, and green beer. There will be a 50/50 raffle held. Soda bread and Irish cupcake bombs will also be for sale afterward. Admission is $15, and RESERVATIONS AND PAYMENT MUST BE MADE BY WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1. SEATING IS LIMITED TO 80 PEOPLE, so tickets are first-come, first-serve. No payment or unreserved admission will be allowed at the door. Dec 12, 2021 – The Annual Christmas Dinner Party was held Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Firefighter's Memorial Hall (the old Centredale station), 1995 Smith St, North ProvidenceThe menu consisted of appetizers, salad, macaroni and meatballs, bread, butter, soda, coffee, wine, eggnog and desserts.  A Yankee swap was held for those 12 and up.  

Reservations must be made in advance no later than Wed, December 1, 2021, and please include your count of children and age groups, so that we can plan food and hall capacity.  Call Michael Murphy at 401-339-7848, or John Murphy at 401-232-8432.

WHAT:  STATION 1 FAREWELL DINNER
WHEN and WHERE:  Saturday, September 14; 1-4 pm at 1967 Mineral Spring Ave, apparatus floor.
WHO:  For all who served at station 1 over the last 45 years and 100,000 runs - volunteer, call and career.
WHY:  Station 1 is being decommissioned, and new fire HQ is being occupied today at 1835 Mineral Spring Ave. This is a sendoff to the old building, last chance to see it and share comraderie from the last 45 years.

The catered meal will be served on the apparatus floor. We have seating for 64 people, and so far have 27 definite and 17 maybe. 
The meal will consist of salad, Italian cold cuts, meatballs and penne pasta, soda and coffee. Working on getting a sheet cake.
Please bring cameras, pictures, memories, memorabilia, etc.

 The Annual St. Patrick's Day Dinner was held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 5:00 pm, at Firefighter's Memorial Hall (the old Centredale station), 1995 Smith St, North ProvidenceThe menu included an all-you-can-eat boiled dinner (corned beef, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, pickled beets, Irish soda bread, rye bread), dessert, coffee, Centredale's own Yacht Club soda, and green beer.  About 66 people attended.

Pasta Dinner on Saturday, October 26, 2013 (at Firefighter's Memorial Hall) to raise money to have a rededication for the Volunteer Firemen's Monument's 50th Anniversary and to set up a fund for the upkeep of the monument in the future. Everyone is welcome.  Tickets are $12 per person and are on sale Wed, Oct 2 at 7:00 pm at Firefighter's Memorial Hall.  There will be three seatings with a capacity of 80 people each:  4:00-5:00, 5:30-6:30 and 7:00-8:00.

Firefighters' Memorial Sunday will be this Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 9:30 am.  Location will be at the Firefighters' monument in front of the North Providence High School.  There will be a short service at the monument with the laying of the wreaths.  All are welcome to attend.

Monday, June 10, 2013 – The North Providence Fire Alarm Office was dedicated in name and to the memory of John P. Murphy, Sr, former Centredale Fire Dept chief and Director of Communications for North Providence, in a ceremony held at 6:30 pm at Firefighter's Memorial Hall (the old Centredale station), 1995 Smith St, North ProvidenceChief Murphy was the driving force behind the creation of the telegraph fire alarm system in North Providence, performing all of the installation and wiring himself over a period of years from the 1930s onward.  Chief Murphy was the father of Centredale Chief John P. Murphy, Jr, and grandfather of Michael Murphy, who also served as a call firefighter and fire alarm operator.  A plaque has been placed outside the Fire Alarm Office at the rear of 1967 Mineral Spring Ave.

Sunday, June 5, 2011 - There was an antique fire apparatus show from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at Ninigret Park, Rte 1A, in Charlestown, in which Capt David Giammarco of NPFD displayed the 1960 Maxim Ladder 1.

July 6, 2010The North Providence Town Council meeting will be Tuesday, July 6 at 7:30 pm at North Providence Town Hall, 2000 Smith Street, 2nd floor.  We are on the agenda to discuss the new lease that has been offered for our hall.  Despite the previous lease requiring that the new lease offer the same terms, the Council had the attorney completely rewrite the lease to make us responsible for alll maintenance, utilities, insurance, etc.  We will be asking the Council to give us a new lease equivalent to the previous one.  We are asking that all members please attend this critical hearing; our future depends on your support!

July 7, 2010The Annual 4th of July collation will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2010, at 5:30 pm at Firefighter's Memorial Hall (the old Centredale station), 1995 Smith St, North Providence.  Clam cakes and chowder, corn-on-the-cob and watermelon will be served, along with soda and beer.  The collation is free to members, and the monthly meeting will follow.

May 29, 2010The Annual Firemen's Memorial Service was held Saturday, May 29, 2010, at 10:00 am at the monument in front of Firefighter's Memorial Hall (the old Centredale station), 1995 Smith St, North ProvidenceA prayer was led by President Ray Parenteau, a wreath-laying, followed by coffee and refreshments in the hall downstairs.

Dec 12, 2009 – The Annual Christmas Dinner Party was held Saturday, December 12, 2009, at 5:00 pm at Firefighter's Memorial Hall (the old Centredale station), 1995 Smith St, North ProvidenceThe menu consisted of appetizers, salad, macaroni and meatballs, bread, butter, soda, coffee, wine, eggnog and dessert.  A Yankee swap was held, and Santa stopped by.  Ticket prices were $10 for adults and kids over 8; $5 for kids ages 4 to 8 and free ages 3 and under.  Canned goods and non-perishable foods were collected for the RI Food Bank.  Vice President John Murphy gave away several of his woodcrafts as part of the raffle.
